How has urban agriculture improved the environmental and political education of the local communities in Santiago de Chile?

This paper suggests that the projects have assumed the responsibility of educating the citizens about environmental, political and current issues, especially in areas that the state does not cover. Through workshops, events and parties, the groups disseminate indigenous knowledge, cultural information and environmental practices.

Urban agriculture as connection points, civil Society influence in Santiago, Chile.

Preliminary, the study that urban agriculture is used more for social connection than food production. It also shows a weak connection between civil society and the state and the private sector.Although most connections are formed between civil society actors in the neighbourhoods where the gardens are located, connections are also established with actors from other areas of the city.

Urban agriculture as centres of connection and community knowledge in Santiago, Chile

Preliminary results show that urban agriculture is used more for social connection than food production, emphasizing the spread of ancestral knowledge and sustainability information.

Urban agriculture and social cohesion, the return to community life in Santiago

Preliminary results. The study showed that in Santiago, urban agriculture projects are developed more for a social purpose than an environmental one. For the actors involved, the main objective of urban agriculture is social cohesion and the creation of community.
